Jakarta, held at Mandarin Oriental Hotel Thamrin Central Jakarta, the Director General of Immigration Ronny F. Sompie opened The 4th of Host Country Committee Meeting on Immigration and Consular Affair "POLICY ON VISA AND STAY PERMIT" on Tuesday (8/8/2017).
In his speech Ronny F. Sompie said "In this era of globalization, coordination and cooperation is one part of the strategy in maintaining good relations between countries and strengthening the existence of each country".
The increasing number of Immigration violations in recent years requires special attention and comprehensive handling by inter-state cooperation, due to the impact on the stability of Indonesia’s national security.
Furthermore, Ronny asserted, "Immigration violations include human trafficking, human smuggling, drug smuggling, terrorism and transnational crime".
Consequently, the Government of Indonesia has enacted Law No. 6 of 2011 and PP No. 31 of 2013. Both are the Directorate General of Immigration’s commitment in responding the issues. The regulation covers borders, human traffic, visas and stay permits as well as penalties for Immigration violations and also cooperation related.
"Therefore, we regularly have the meeting to strengthen the relationship between the Government of Indonesia, especially the Immigration, with all the foreign Ambassadors in Indonesia". He explained.
A similar event has also been held in 2016 to discuss the policy issues of Visa and Stay Permit which are key documents for every foreign citizen. On this day, the Directorate General of Immigration held a meeting to improve more effective coordination, cooperation, and consular affair, also to receive input from various parties on the immigration policy.
Attending the meeting were the Ambassadors, the Diplomatic Representatives, and the Directors of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Foreign Representative Officials in Indonesia and the Officials of the Directorate General of Immigration, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
