Jakarta - The Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, Yasonna H. Laoly met the invitation from the EU Embassy in Jakarta. In addition to the establishing of friendship, the meeting also an event to strengthen the relationship among the ministry with the member countries of the European Union as well.
The EU Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, Vincent Guerend expressed his gratitude for the Minister’s visit to the European Union office in Jakarta. Guerend also expressed his appreciation for the established cooperation established between the European Union with the ministry, such as the Geographical Indication matters. "We also congratulate on the registration of the Aceh Gayo Coffee in Europe as a Geographical Indication product. Hopefully, this can spur the existing Indonesian medium industries Indonesia to grow, "said Guerend, Friday (09/06/2017).
Then, the Minister also expressed his appreciation for the EU invitation, and the established cooperation. "Thank you for registering the Gayo Coffee in Europe as a Geographical Indication product. Hopefully the others will follow soon, "said Yasonna in front of 22 ambassadors, members of European Union.
Besides geographical indications, the Minister and the European Union’s Ambassadors were also discussing several issues recently occurred in Indonesia, including the legislation process, gender equality and human rights matters, the current discussed Criminal Code (KUHP) bill, and the implementation of Pancasila values in protecting all citizens, including minorities.
In the Q&A session, Danish Ambassador to Indonesia, Casper Klynge asked about business and investment related developments in Indonesia. The Minister replied that the President Joko Widodo's administration continues to deregulate a number of rules, aimed for promoting ease of doing business in the country.
"The President Joko Widodo frequently said, the deregulation policy will make Indonesia a competitive country towards others, we continue to work hard on this, and make it our main concern," said Yasonna. (Zaka Edit: Yay)
